A launch vehicle operated by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched 36 satellites into orbit today. ISRO’s official Twitter account announced that LVM3 carried 5,805 kg of payload to Low Earth Orbit for its sixth consecutive successful flight. India’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) launched the LVM3-M3/OneWeb India-2 mission from Sriharikota, a barrier island in Andhra Pradesh.

OneWeb, a UK-based low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications company, owns the satellites. According to OneWeb, all 36 satellites launched this morning have been contacted, meaning that all satellites required for global coverage have been launched. OneWeb deployed its second satellite from India in partnership with ISRO and New Space India Limited (NSIL). Last October, the first batch of deployments was completed. A total of 618 satellites have been launched as part of OneWeb’s constellation.
