UAE president invites Egyptian counterpart to attend COP28 climate conference

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has extended a personal invitation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to attend the upcoming COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai. The written message was delivered by Mariam Al Kaabi, the UAE Ambassador to Egypt, and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the Arab League, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The UAE president’s letter expressed the hope that President El Sisi would attend the event in November and participate in addressing the global climate crisis.

President El Sisi reciprocated the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He also expressed his confidence in the UAE’s leadership and readiness to enhance cooperation and share Egyptian expertise in addressing climate change, especially concerning the concerns of developing and African nations.

Ambassador Al Kaabi emphasized the UAE’s interest in strengthening cooperation between the two countries and exchanging experiences, particularly following Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022. The invitation demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with other nations to address the urgent climate challenges facing the world.
